Use of the service
You may use Fieldwork for lawful research, planning, journalism, and personal interest. You may not use it to harass individuals or businesses, to build a competing dataset by automating scans beyond your tier limits, or to evade rate limits via multiple accounts.
You agree to keep your account credentials private. You are responsible for activity originating from your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect a credential has been compromised.
Data we store
We store the minimum we need to run the service:
- Your name and email, supplied via Google sign-in.
- Your scan history — the queries, grids, zoom levels, results, and timestamps.
- Your bookmarks, lists, and any private notes you attach to results.
- Aggregate usage telemetry (page views, error reports, performance traces).
We do not store your password — sign-in is delegated to Google. We do not sell, rent, or share any of your data with third parties for advertising or training. See the full Privacy Policy for details on your rights and how to exercise them.
Scans & tokens
A scan is one grid query. Each tier has a monthly token allowance that resets on your billing date. Token cost per scan is determined by two inputs: (a) the area you cover — set by your effort tier (cell size: 250m, 1km, or 5km) and your zoom level (NxN grid size, 1×1 to 5×5) — and (b) the number of businesses returned inside that grid.
On paid tiers (Surveyor, Cartographer), unused tokens roll over for one billing cycle, then expire. Private Beta tokens reset monthly with no rollover. Re-querying an identical scan within 60 minutes is free and does not consume tokens. If our upstream providers fail mid-scan, tokens are automatically refunded.
Results accuracy
Results are only as accurate as the data provided by the third-party mapping and business-listing vendors we use. Their coverage, freshness, and completeness are outside our control — listings may be wrong, stale, duplicated, or missing.
Fieldwork is a research tool. Verify on the ground before relying on a result for a high-stakes decision.
Payment & cancellation
Paid tiers bill monthly through Stripe. Cancel anytime from Settings → Billing; your access continues until the end of the paid period and then drops back to the free Private Beta tier.
We refund mistakes — double-charges, accidental upgrades, broken billing cycles — on request. Email info@signalvector.xyz.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service: automated scraping past your tier, harassment of users or businesses, fraudulent payment, or material breach of these terms.
We will give 30 days' written notice except in cases of clear abuse. Your data is exportable for 90 days post-termination, after which it is deleted.
Intellectual property
You own the notes, lists, and tags you create. By storing them with us, you grant us a limited license to display them back to you and to operate the service.
We own Fieldwork — the brand, the application, the search infrastructure, and the snapshot history database. Listing data is licensed from upstream providers (Mapbox, OSM, Google, and others); your access to that data is bound by their terms in addition to ours.
Liability & warranty
The service is provided "as is." We do our best to keep it accurate, fast, and online, but we cannot warrant uninterrupted access or perfect data.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these terms is capped at the greater of (a) $100 USD or (b) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Changes to these terms
We will email you at least 30 days before any material change to these terms or to your pricing. If you don't agree, you can cancel and export your data before the change takes effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
